Reservations
Please identify yourself as being with the Weinstein Group.  A link and group code are provided on the first page of this section.

April 18, 2005 is the cut-off date for making reservations.   We expect that almost every room in the resort will be booked during this meeting.  Late registrants may have to be accomodated at another hotel and the closest other hotel is some miles away and will require the use of a rental car.  Register early.  If you wish to share a room but need a roomate, contact Ms. Jacque Parker and we will try to arrange shared accomodations.

Location
Westward Look is a destination resort located in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Its isolation from city life makes it an attractive environment for scientific interaction.  You will be able to find and interact with your colleagues on the patios or in the pools or in the bar.  Attendees should be aware that there is little else in walking distance.  Excursions from the grounds will require a rental care or use of a hotel shuttle.  We will have special shuttles available on Friday evening to several areas with a selection of restaurants.

Rooms
The resort offers large rooms with one or two beds, and some rooms also have a fold out couch. We suggest that students could be tripled up with little crowding and even a fourth could be accomodated with a cot.

Things to do at Westward Look Resort
At the previous meeting, a few labs became well recognized for their time in the pool.  There are actually a number of pools on the grounds so you can either swim in the main pool or in several more discrete pools. The bar and its outside patio provide a place to encounter your colleagues and develop new collaborations.  Westward Look is a tennis resort and there are many courts available.  We selected this resort specifically because the rates are not supporting a golf course.  However, the resort has made arrangements for its guests to play on a number of courses in the Tucson area.  The concierge will make arrangements for golf on these courses.

The website at http://www.westwardlook.com/nature/guided_adventures.php describes recreational activities at Westward Look.   We recommend taking time to walk the trails around the grounds.  Hiking up the trails into the Santa Catalina Mountains is also possible. Horseback rides are available and Sunday morning proved to be a popular time for this activity at the last meeting.  It is possible with the early sunrise and 9am start time for the meeting to get in a trail ride or a hike before the meeting on either Friday or Saturday.  Contact the resort to make arrangements.

For those who arrive early, stay late or who have accompanying spouses, we strongly recommend a visit to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum.  This is a combination zoo and arboretum just west of the Tucson Mountains.  Here you can safely observe some of our more famous desert creatures (snakes, taratulas, Gila monsters and scorpions) and many of the just plain hard to find innocuouus animals such as coyote, coatis, ringtail cats, roadrunners and javalena.  This is one of the most popular visitor sites in Arizona and is well worth the time.
